About BarbieMatch
What is BarbieMatch?
BarbieMatch is a tool for Barbie doll collectors and customizers. It helps you find which dolls share the same skin tone as a given doll.
What are Made to Move Dolls?
Made to Move is a Mattel Barbie line introduced in 2016, designed with more articulation (22 points of articulation) that allows the doll to pose in realistic, active positions. Unlike standard Barbie bodies, Made to Move bodies have ball-jointed shoulders, hips, and knees, making them a favorite among customizers who want a more poseable base for their projects.
Because so many collectors rebody dolls onto Made to Move bodies, knowing which doll heads and neck knobs are compatible is helpful.
Where does the data come from?
Doll and body match data is sourced from several places:
- creations.mattel.com: official Mattel product listings
- en.barbiepedia.com: a Barbie collector wiki
- The community-compiled Made to Move Barbie Body Match guide by yiota, which is an invaluable reference for the collector community and a major source for much of the Made to Move compatibility data on this site.
- User contributions: collectors can submit new matches or corrections through the site's submission form, which are then reviewed and added to the database.
A note on accuracy
Matches on this site are a starting point, not a guarantee. Doll manufacturing involves real-world variability that can affect compatibility:
- Batch and factory variation: the same doll released in different production runs or manufactured at different factories can have subtle differences in plastic color, neck post size, or body dimensions.
- Subtle physical differences: even dolls listed as the same skin tone or body type may not be a perfect visual or physical match. Small differences in undertone, sheen, or fit can make a pairing look off in person.
- Vintage discoloration: older and vintage dolls are prone to yellowing, greening, or other discoloration over time, which means their current color may no longer match what is listed.
- Data may simply be wrong: much of the data is community-sourced and could contain errors. If you notice something that doesn't look right, please use the feedback feature on a doll's page to flag it.
